A very good job that the Blue and Whites didn’t leave things until the last day as they went down 1-3 to a weakened Barcelona team. M’alaga took the lead after half an hour through Seba Fernández, but Bojan equealised from the penalty spot just before half time.
Second half goals from Afellay and Bartra were enough to give Barcelona victory and they finish the season four points ahead of arch rivals Real Madrid.
Reak Madrid hammered relegated Almeria 8-1 at the Bernebeu. Ronaldo bagged a pair, as did Benzema, Adebayor scored a hat-trick and Joselu added one more for luck. Uche scored the only goal for Almeria.
In the process, Ronaldo established a new La Liga record of 40 goals in a season.
Valencia and Villarreal go forward to the Champions League, Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao and Atlético Madrid head to the Europa League and Almeria, Hércules and Deportivo will be playing second division football next season.
