A fire this morning destroyed around 1,000 square metres of land in the Sierras Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park near the Nerja Caves and Maro.
The blaze began at 11:00 and spread rapidly up the hill known as Tragalamocha, destroying scrub and a number of pine trees.
Firemen, Guardia Civil and a host of others, with helicopter support, managed to put out the fire within two hours and limit the damage to one hectare. Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
