A 30 year old Moroccan man was arrested early this morning in Fuengirola and charged with killing a 19 year old Swedish girl and injuring another girl.
The two girls were staying at at the Hostal El Cid in Fuengirola and were celebrating the end of their course. At around 03:30, thirty year old A.B., a Moroccan national resident in Spain, allegedly entered the room of the two girls with the intention of sexually assaulting them.
The attacker produced a kitchen knife and one of the girls, aged just 19 years, suffered severe injuries to the neck from which she subsequently died. The other girl was also wounded but managed to flee the room to try and get help.
The receptionist at the hostel came to the rescue of the girl and then proceeded to detain the attacker until the police arrived. The attacker also had several wounds to his hands.
After being treated at the Hospital Costa del Sol in Marbella, the attacker was arrested and taken to the National Police station. The body of the murdered girl was taken to the Anatomical Forensic Institute for autopsy.
