Around two hundred people in Málaga province have been charged with buying fake diplomas in order to apply for or obtain jobs.
The man who forged the documents, a 60 year old man in Málaga, has been arrested, as have 80 of the 200 people so far charged.
Back in 2008, police searched the home of the forger and the documentation they found led to another investigation being instigated and this has culminated in the charging of around 200 people so far.
There are many security guards, some holding positions of responsibility, who used fake diplomas to obtain their jobs as well as those who used the forged documents to gain employment in public administration, hospitals and even the security forces.
There are thirty police officers who bought fake diplomas and used these to gain entry into various Local Police forces in the province. These officers have been suspended pending permanent expulsion from the force.
