Today sees the start of a new DGT campaign aimed at monitoring motorcycle and moped riders with particular attention being taken with the wearing of helmets, faulty overtaking and excessive speed.
There are five million motorcycle and moped riders and although since 2007 there has been a 43% reduction in accidents, the first six months of 2011 has seen a total of 100 people lose their lives, 18 more than in 2010.
The controls will continue until next Sunday.
