The new mayor of Ronda, María Paz Fernández, has announced the dismissal of José Carrasco as Chief of Local Police.
Fernández gave the reason for dismissal as being a lack of confidence in the ability of José Carrasco to continue his duties in the post.
At the same time, the Mayor was quick to congratulate the sacked Police Chief for his work as head of the local force, particularly noting the significant progress relating to the transfer of the Local Police force to a new multi-purpose building and the introduction of new technologies.
The Mayor also noted the positive actions taken to control drug trafficking, curb violence and prevent robberies in the municipality.
A new Police Chief is expected to be appointed within a month, or two at the most.
