Two Spanish soldiers have died and another three have been injured in Afghanistan after a device exploded as their ‘Lynx’ armoured vehicle passed by.
The soldiers were on patrol near the Afghan village of Qala-i-Naw when the incident occurred. The soldiers who died have been named as sergeant Manuel Argudin Perrino and private Niyireth Pineda Marín.
The injured have been flown to hospital in Bala Murghab. Rubén Velázquez Herrera has various contusions, Jhony Alirio Herrera Trejos has two broken legs and a broken arm and Roi Villa Souto has fractures to both legs.
The IED exploded as the ‘Lynx’ armoured vehicle passed by on patrol about twenty kilometres from Qala-i-Naw. This is the second attack against the Spanish contingent in Afghanistan in the past eight days.
