Car registrations in Andalucia during the first six months of 2011 were a mere 45,817 units and sales in June were down by 40.6% compared to the same month in 2010.
By province, the decreases and actual registrations were:
- Jaén: -52.2 percent in June (411 units)
- Huelva: -50.5 percent in June (425 units)
- Granada: -50.2 percent (756 units)
- Almeria, -43.4 percent (677 units)
- Sevilla: -41.6 percent (2,100 units)
- Córdoba: -40.4 percent (719 units)
- Cadiz: -36.4 percent (1,400 units)
- Málaga, -30.8 percent (2147 units).
The Federation of Automobile Dealers believes that a ‘renewal plan’ is necessary to stimulate demand, saying that an ageing fleet of vehicles means more pollution and less road safety. They would, of course, as they want to sell cars.
