The Criminal Court Number One in Motril has ordered the expulsion from Spain for a period of ten yeas of a Moroccan national who was convicted of violent abuse against his wife.
The incident occurred last February when the man went home and began punching and kicking his wife during a family discussion. The woman needed hospital treatment and took four days to recover from her injuries.
The accused, who was in Spain illegally, was originally sentenced to one year in prison, prohibited from being within 500 metres of his wife for a period of three years and ordered to pay €155 compensation to his wife. However, the court has now replaced this original sentence with an expulsion order.
