The provincial executive of Izquierda Unida has suspended the membership of three councillors in Colmenar for agreeing a pact with the PP and Convergencia Andalucía parties which allowed Antonio Jesús Fernández, PP, to become mayor of the town.
The government team in Colmenar is composed of three members of IU, two PP and the only Convergencia Andaluza member. The PSOE, which was the most voted in the last municipal elections and has five councillors, form the opposition.
The agreement reached between the three political forces in the town states that the Mayor for the first two years will be Antonio Jesús Fernández (PP) and from June 2013 it will be Pedro Rodríguez (IU).
