The Councillor for Cleaning and Occupation of Public Roads, José Miguel García, has started holding a series of meetings with bar and restaurant owners in the centre of town to discuss rubbish disposal and to ensure that establishments are adhering to the municipal ordinances relating to terraces.
The first meeting was with bar and restaurant owners at the bottom end of calle Cristo and the Councillor produces photos showing rubbish bags left on the streets. He pointed out that bars and restaurants should put rubbish bags in buckets to avoid liquid spills and subsequent stains and foul odours, something which occurs all too frequently.
The Councillor stated that he has received complaints of unauthorised or oversized terraces and he wants everyone to adhere to the rules. On one occasion, apparently, an ambulance had problems in the area due to oversized terraces.
