A film crew from the South Korean TV channel UBC has been in Nerja for a few days recording a special programme on different tourism models in Spain.
South Korea is attracting international tourism and the programme is designed to show the experience of established resorts in Spain, such as the Costa del Sol in general and Nerja in particular.
Barry says:
I think the South Koreans could look to far better Tourism models than Nerja. A beautiful town indeed but with lousey Politicians and Councillors and a very strange attitude to Tourism, especially as it is its sole breadwinner. I only have to mention lack of parking, lack of sewerage treatment, slow movement on features such as the Caves, Golf Course, Marina etc…not to mention that they like to grab the income from the bars and restaurants at Burriana, without providing any services in return. Good luck South Korea, but don’t follow Nerjas example.
Clive says:
I totally agree with everything you say, Barry. Apart from the problems with Burriana, they are taking taxes from owners of other bars & restaurants too, and making it more and more difficult for them to trade. Just look at all those empty local restaurants around Los Huertos car park, in particular at the Parador end, now that people are avoiding the car park charges by keeping away from Nerja. I am sure they are doing a little better in high season, but they have already shed longstanding & loyal staff as they just couldn’t afford to keep them on.
Barry says:
Clive, yes I agree they grab from others aswell, but wouldn’t you think that those responsible for tourism might provide at least a little support for Burriana, the most popular tourist beach in Nerja ? No car park, no christmas decorations, disfunctional toilets, unmentionable discharge into the sea…etc etc
