A man died on Monday night in a fire next to a high voltage electricity pylon in Málaga where, it is believed, he was trying to steal the copper wiring.
The incident occurred at around 23:00 between avenida José Ortega y Gasset and the road to the Guadalhorce golf course.
The right side of the road and olive scrub land was on fire when firefighters arrived on the scene. Once the fire had been extinguished, the body of the man was discovered next to an Endesa electricity pylon.
The ‘earth’ of the pylon had been cut and firemen found a pair of pliers next to the lifeless body, all suggesting that the man had been trying to steel the copper wire and had received an electric shock.
