Members of Seprona have arrested a 43 year old man for the theft of 72 beehives, valued at €10,800, from farms in Caniles and Baza in Granada province and Serón in Almeria province.
After reports were received of thefts of beehives in northern Granada, Seprona officers inspected several apiaries in the Parque Natural de la Sierra in Baza and discovered a number apiaries where the registration details had been manipulated.
The man was registered as having 12 hives but had a further 56 on his farm and 16 at his home, the numbers on the hives having been altered.
