A broken pipe has left 15,000 people without running water in the towns of Santisteban del Puerto, Castellar and Navas de San Juan in Jaén province.
The main water pipe has suffered problems on four occasions in the past twenty days and local residents are getting fed up with the interruptions to the water supply.
A delegate from the Ministry of Environment met with local Mayors a few days ago to discuss the poor state of the water pipes and declared works to replace the pipes as being ‘urgent’.
However, these ‘urgent’ works will not start until some time in 2012.

- Urgent – calling for immediate attention
- Urgent: compelling or requiring immediate action or attention; imperative; pressing
- Urgent: requiring or compelling speedy action or attention
We were, however, unable to locate the definition: ‘a commitment or declaration to definitely, possibly, maybe consider action at some indeterminate future date, or not’.
