The Ministry of Environment has opened proceedings against a company that owns land accessing Cala de San Pedro in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park for constructing an illegal car park.
The area is heavily protected due to environmental issues but the company renovated a track and constructed a parking area. Not only that, but they began charging bathers €7 to get to the beach.
The company took advantage of the many visitors who make the trip between Las Negras and San Pedro. They are being charged, amongst other things, with the destruction of plant species in the area.
It seems amazing that the authorities appear not to have been aware of the construction of the car park and road renovation until after it came into operation.
