Wednesday sees the start of the traditional horse racing on the beaches of Sanlucar de Barrameda, Cádiz province.
This will be the 166th edition of the horse races which have taken place every summer since 1845. The opening day sees four races with a total of 35 horses taking part.
The races continue on Thursday and Friday and then there is a break until the second series which runs from August 25th to 27th. Wednesday’s races start at 18:40 and a number of well-known riders will be taking part, including Jorge Jarcovsky, David Delgado, José Carlos Cerqueira, Borja Fayos and Vaclav Janacek.
The budget for this year’s races is €600,000, of which €170,170 is prize money.
