As with so many important projects, such as the sewage works and fire station to name but two, the Health Centre project also remains blocked due to administrative wranglings over the classification of the land set aside for the project.
The site of the proposed Health Centre, near the rio Chillar riverbed, has already been prepared with the necessary infrastructure but problems with the current classification of the land, for educational purposes, continue to cause delays.
The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, has requested a meeting with Health delegate María Antigua Escalera in September to discuss the situation.
The problem of classification of land seems to cause so many problems in so many municipalities, not just in Nerja, and it defies belief that projects are continually proposed or started without ensuring adherence or compliance with all of the prevailing plans (PGOU, POTA, LOUA, POTAX etc etc) and the over-abundant administrative procedures.
Just waiting for the Málaga airport extension to come to a grinding halt because the land is only designated as suitable for a potting shed.
