The Court in Sevilla has granted bail to a woman accused of killing a Canal Sur cameraman during the romería de Valme in Dos Hermanas in 2010.
Lawyers argued that the woman, arrested and remanded in custody in December 2010, did not pose a flight risk. The lawyers also maintained that the evidence against her was not clear.
The woman’s husband, 37 year old Francisco Javier A.S, remains in custody and their 15 year old son has been charged by the Juvenile Prosecutor.
The three family members are accused of kicking and beating a Canal Sur cameraman, Jesús Ruiz de Castro, during the romería de Valme in 2010. The cameraman died several days later after having been in a coma since the attack.
The father and son were arrested shortly after the incident but the woman was not detained until December, several months later. At the time, bail was refused due to a perceived flight risk and the severity of the crime.
Bail was set at €3,000 and the woman has now been released.
The main defendant, Francisco Javier A.S., allegedly committed the crime while on parole for another crime committed in 2006.
