A team from the Prevention and Extinction of Fire in Andalucia, Plan Infoca, has extinguished a wildfire within the area of the Cerro Muriano military installation near Obejo, Córdoba.
Due to the difficulty of the terrain and the possibility of encountering unexploded ordnance, the bulk of the effort involved the use of aircraft, thirteen in total.
The fire began on Friday and was extinguished early on Saturday evening. Due to the lands involved being military, the Fire Brigade Investigation Service (BIIF) has no power to investigate the causes of such fires unless ordered to do so by the judicial authorities.
