A forest fire near Zalamea La Real in Huelva province has been brought under control and extinguished, although the area is still being monitored until it cools and there is no chance of the fire restarting.
The blaze began at 16:30 on Monday and initial concerns were that it would spread to an area of eucalyptus trees. However, this was prevented as firemen with aerial support worked on controlling the perimeter of the fire.
Over 70 firemen and technicians, three planes and four helicopters took part in the operation. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
