The town of Boecillo in Valladolid will today begin three days of official mourning for three children who were killed at a shelter run by the Mensajeros de la Paz (Messengers of Peace), allegedly by of one of the monitors.
The plenary session will convene at midday today to approve the decree and at 12:30 there will be a silent gathering in the Plaza Mayor.
The bodies of the three children, all of whom had disabilities, were found on Monday at the Mensajeros de la Paz centre in calle Almendro in Boecillo. The children, aged 3, 9 and 14 years, were found at 9:05 on Monday morning.
The children were found with their heads covered, suggesting they died as a result of asphyxiation. The unconscious body of a 55 year old carer, the alleged perpetrator of the killings, was also discovered by staff as they came in to work on Monday morning.
The carer had apparently tried to commit suicide and is now in custody and under supervision at the Hospital Clínico in Valladolid. He has wounds to his neck, wrists and head.
