The first trophy of the season for Barcelona as they beat Madrid 3-2 in the second leg of the Spanish Supercup in a match which ended with a disgraceful fracas and red cards for Marcelo and Özil for Real Madrid and David Villa for Barcelona.
Two goals from Messi and one from Iniesta were enough to claim the silverware, Ronaldo and Benzema scoring for Real Madrid. As in the first leg, it was Real Madrid who took the lead, Ronaldo the scorer, but they couldn’t build on that good start.
Both teams played some good football at times but it was that man Messi who made the difference and gave Barcelona the edge. A deserved win in the end for the La Liga champions.
