What better place to have lunch in Torre del Mar than at one of the traditional beach ‘chiringuitos’….before they all disappear as a result of the maritime-terrestrial public domain nonsense.
The beach chiringuitos do a roaring trade during the summer and it would be a shame to see these traditional establishments disappear.
I picked out Chiringuito Rosa on playa Poniente for a quick, leisurely lunchtime afternoon snack. Despite being quite packed still, at three o’clock, the service was quick and efficient and it wasn’t long before I had a dish of bubbling Gambas Pil Pil placed in front of me.
Very nice indeed. It had a sort of delayed ‘tang’, becoming apparent after the second mouthful. My only criticism would be that for me personally, a great fan of ‘heat’ in all sorts of dishes, it lacked a spicy ‘bite’ to it.
