Police have arrested a Rumanian national who confessed to killing his girlfriend in Alguazas, Murcia, claiming to have put her in the trunk of his car and then pushed the car into the rio Segura.
On Tuesday evening, police received a call from a man claiming to have killed his girlfriend, a story later corroborated by the girl’s father.
A patrol car and an ambulance arrived at the man’s house and the man confirmed that he had killed his girlfriend. A thirteen year old boy reported seeing the man push the car into the river and a search was initiated.
After about an hour, the car was found but there was no body in the boot. Later in the evening, police received a call to say that the victim was in hospital, although was not being admitted. She had suffered no injuries but was in a state of shock.
The woman had apparently kicked her way out of the boot of the car and into the interior of the car, then managed to exit the vehicle and climb out of the river. She was found by National Police officers who took her to hospital.
The detainee has been charged with attempted murder and domestic violence.
