During July 2011, Torremolinos was apparently the city with the highest average hotel occupancy rate, not only along the Costa del Sol but also throughout Spain.
The average occupancy rate was 83.3% according to the National Statistics Institute (INE) with 546,982 overnight stays. This relates to an increase of 5.24% over the same period last year.
The total number of visitors to the municipality was also up by 7.28%.
