The National Police in Granada have activated a search protocol for two 13 year old girls who were reported missing by their families in the early hours of this morning.
One of the girls, who lives in La Zubia, went to spend the night with her cousin in Granada. At around 01:30, the father discovered their bedroom door open and when he went in to check on them he found the room was empty. After four hours he called the police to report the girls missing.
The search initiated by the National Police is in Granada province but photos of the girls are also being circulated at national level.
All indications are that the two girls left voluntarily, one of them apparently having escaped the family nest on a number of occasions in the past.
