The overall number of road deaths in Spain during the months of July and August may have fallen but in six autonomous regions, including Andalucia, the death toll actually rose.
Andalucía, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Comunidad Valenciana, Murcia and País Vasco all registered an increase in the number of road traffic fatalities according to the DGT.
In absolute terms, Andalucia registered the greater number of deaths on the roads during those two months with 54, ahead of Cataluña with 48, Castilla-La Mancha with 34 and Castilla y León with 32.
Of the 54 deaths in Andalucia, 21 occurred in the province of Sevilla.
