Two British nationals have been arrested in Mojácar, Almeria, for taking money for holiday rental properties which either did not exist or were already rented out.
Eleven people have so far submitted official complaints but the total number scammed is thought to be at least 60 and more complaints are expected.
The men advertised rental properties via the internet, charging between €1,500 and €2,000 for a fortnight. However, when the clients went to the holiday homes, they either found that they did not exist or were already rented out.
The eleven complaints so far received relate to French, British, Belgian and Portuguese holidaymakers taken in by the scam.
