The mayor of Almonaster La Real (Huelva), Manuel Ángel Barroso, has totally discounted the possibility that the bodies of a woman and a child discovered in the municipality after being buried for the past 18 years could have been residents of the town or even the district.
The bodies were discovered by the police on a farm known as ‘Huerta del Cura’ about 300 metres from the village of Calabzares. The farm was originally owned by the church but has had a number of owners since that time and for the past eighteen years has been in the hands of a foreign resident.
The Mayor believes that if the bodies had belonged to residents of the area, their disappearance would have been noticed at some stage during the past eighteen years.
One of the investigations currently under way is to discover whether the death of these two people was accidental or through violence.
