A bit of an early scare for Real Madrid after Rayo Vallecano took the lead after only fifteen seconds through Michu and it took until a few minutes before the break for Real to turn things around with goals from Ronaldo and Higuaín.
Ronaldo with two penalties, Varane and Benzema added to the Real tally in the second half and Michu grabbed his second for Rayo to make the final score 6-2. A comfortable in the end after a shaky start.
Barcelona were also in a goal scoring mood in their match with Atlético Madrid, knocking in five altogether to run out 5-0 winners.
David Villa opened the scoring after nine minutes and then Atletico’s decided to lend a hand by deflecting the ball into his own net. Lionel Messi followed this by grabbing a hat-trick.
Sevilla managed a 1-0 win over Valencia despite being reduced to nine men, Kanouté the scorer. It wasn’t so bad for Sevilla as their rivals were down to ten men.
