The former Mayor of Ronda, Antonio Marín Lara (PSOE), has been arrested on suspicion of corruption relating to urban planning.
The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor has been investigating certain urban planning violations for the past year and on Tuesday police began seizing documents and records held at the Town Hall in plaza Duquesa de Parcent.
The current government, led by María Paz Fernández (PP), were unable to gain access to the building yesterday as it had been sealed off by the police.
Documents were also seized from the offices of the former deputy mayor and secretary general of the PSOE in Ronda, Francisco Cañestro, the former municipal Councillor for Works, María José Martín de Haro, and the former Councillor for Security, Rafael Lara.
Further arrests are not being rules out as the investigation proceeds.
