The Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Axarquía (Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Axarquia) has approved a motion by their president, Oscar Medina, for membership of the Federación Andaluza de Municipios y Provincias (FAMP).
The motion was supported by all political groups except the PSOE, although some, such as the Mayor of Torrox, left the hall rather than vote against the motion like their party colleagues.
Membership of FAMP gives the municipalities on the Costa Sol the opportunity to participate in new initiatives or, if necessary, defend the interests of the municipalities in the Axarquia.
This will be the first time the Commonwealth of the Axarquia has had a voice on FAMP.
