The president of AENA, Juan Lema, is to propose to the Board of Directors that the deadline for the submission of tenders for the running of El Prat and Barajas airports be extended until January 31st 2012.
The current deadline for bids to run the two airports is October 30th, but several companies have expressed the need for more time to complete their bids, especially relating to the raising of the necessary financing.
The tender provides for the granting of 90.05% stake in the companies that operate the airports of Madrid-Barajas and Barcelona-El Prat, which have an exit fee of 3,700 million euros and 1,600 million euros, respectively. Seven consortia have already submitted bids.
