Twenty-eight illegal immigrants were rescued from their sinking boat on Sunday morning off the coast of Huelva, although the occupants had been aiming for Cádiz.
The passengers, only one of whom could speak Spanish, had set off from Morocco four days ago with the intention of reaching the Cádiz coast. However, engine failure and strong winds took them to the Punta Umbría coast in Huelva.
When the Marine Rescue Service arrived on the scene the boat was beginning to sink and three of the passengers were already in the water and suffering from exhaustion.
