Sales of existing homes fell by 28% in September compared to the same month in 2010 with 25,881 transactions.
The decrease of 28% was lower than in the previous two months according to figures published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). September was the second lowest number of transactions since the INE began keeping records in 2007.
Back in January 2007, the monthly sales of existing homes was 83.713.
The sales of new houses also fell in September 2011, again by 28%, with 13,073 transactions recorded.
