The Guardia Civil in Avila have recovered seven works of art, including a Dali and a Sorolla, from a house in Valdemoro, Madrid.
The paintings were stolen from a chalet in Adanero in 2002 and have a combined value of around €4 million. Four people have been arrested in connection with the theft.
The investigation into the theft, codenamed ‘Alejandro’, began immediately after the robbery and within a few months the police had arrived at a list of suspects. However, there was no conclusive evidence to make an arrest.
In June 2011, fingerprint comparisons allowed for the identification of the four individuals involved in the robbery and they have now been arrested.
