Today sees the inaugural flight of a new low cost airline, Helitt Líneas Aéreas, based on the Costa del Sol and offering cheap flights to Melilla.
The idea for the new airline was only conceived twenty-four months ago by Andalucian businessman José Pizarro. An investment of €30 million, 70 staff and 3 aircraft, each with an initial capacity of 66 passengers, and the airline is ready to go.
The inaugural flight, however, is only for institutional representatives, entrepreneurs, tour operators, the president of the company, Abel Pizarro, and other directors of the company.
Helitt Líneas Aéreas will operate daily flights from Málaga to Melilla and, unlike other low cost airlines, will be offering a free snack to all passengers. Flights will be Monday to Friday at 07:30 and on Sunday at 11:20. Flights from Melilla will be at 17:35 and the ticket price from Melilla will be €25 excluding airport taxes.
Beginning on Tuesday November 29th, Helitt Líneas Aéreas will operate a service between Barcelona and Melilla. Flights from Barcelona will be at 15:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Flights from Melilla will be at 08:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 12:30 on Sundays. The ticket price for residents of >Melilla will be €43 plus airport taxes.
On December 2nd, flights will begin between Madrid and Melilla with flights from Madrid at 13:10 on Mondays and Wednesdays and 11:35 on Fridays. From Melilla the flights will be at 10:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays and 09:30 on Fridays. The ticket cost for residents of Melilla will be €38 plus airport taxes.
In 2012, the company proposes to begin flights between San Sebastian and Barcelona with flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
