A Norwegian tourist who suffered 100% burns during the explosion and fire at a hotel in Mogán, Gran Canaria, has died from his wounds at the Hospital Doctor Negrín.
The 55 year old tourist, Anita Berget, was airlifted to hospital after suffering severe burns to 100% of her body but her wounds were described as ‘incompatible with life’ and she died in the early hours of the morning.
In total six people suffered burns covering between 50% and 100% of their bodies, two suffered mild burns and seventeen people were treated for anxiety attacks.
The explosion occurred while a truck was unloading propane gas at the hotel.
One of those still in a serious condition in hospital is a 22 year old waitress at the Hotel Cordial, Yedna Botet Castañeda, a Cuban national.
