The Consumers Union in Aragón has complained that three driving schools are discriminating against women, charging them more for lessons than their male counterparts.
An offer valid until December 31st offers practical driving lessons for males aged between 18 years and 22 years for €665. For women of the same age group the price is €850.
The Consumers Union say this is discriminatory and against Spanish law. However, the president of the Association of Driving Schools in Zaragoza, who also owns one of the driving schools cited, says the offer iis not discriminatory. He says that the price is based of statistics provided by the DGT which show that women generally require 50% more practical lessons than their male counterparts.
