The Council, with the approval of all parties, has approved a modification to the PGOU (General Plan) in the latest attempt to try and unblock the Health Centre project.
The proposed new Health Centre has so far suffered eight years of delays and problems with changes of location, land classification problems, arguments over funding and administrative red tape.
The land for the project is currently classified as being for educational purposes and the Junta de Andalucia is insisting that before any draft project is even prepared, the land must be classified for health purposes.
This is despite a similar situation in Estepona where land classified for educational purposes was approved as a site for a health centre.
The Council has already spent €250,000 preparing the plot of land as demanded by the Ministry of Health.
