The proposed new Fire Park in Nerja has now suffered five years of delays as a result of changes of location and a subsequent lack of funding by the Junta de Andalucia and the provincial Council, but there does now seem to be a glimmer of hope.
According to the latest reports, there is now around €1 million available from the Ministry of Interior for the project. However, the final draft project has yet to be completed. Two earlier drafts were rejected.
The Fire Park site was eventually finalised in 2009 after the Council acquired a 3,600 square metre plot of land near the A-7 roundabout on the way to Frigiliana.
