A 23 year old North African has appeared in court in Málaga charged with robbery with intimidation and mistreatment after his failure to change his clothes led to his arrest.
On Saturday, a youth was walking along the Paseo de los Tilos early in the evening when he was approached by a man who pulled a knife and demanded money. As he only had 50 cents on him, the thief grabbed his Blackberry and ran off.
The victim was able to tell the police that the thief was wearing a tracksuit with the word ‘Yankees’ emblazened in gold on the back.
On Sunday, police were called to an incident in the same area where a man was threatening his former girlfriend. While they were taking details from the two people, they noticed that the man was wearing a tracksuit with ‘Yankees’ on the back and, putting two and two together, arrested the man.
The attacker made an appearance in court on Monday and was then released.
