The new Fire Station in Archidona is set to be officially inaugurated on January 3rd 2012, although the facility has been operating since November 29th.
The Fire Station, built at a cost of €700,000, is situated on a 2,800 square metre plot of land with buildings totalling 725 square metres, 263 square metres of which are for housing the vehicles.
The rest contains the administrative offices, dressing rooms, toilets, male and female bedrooms, control and communications room, kitchen, gym, warehouse and training room.
The Fire Station is part of the CPB (Consorcio Provincial de Bomberos) area 1 and, in conjunction with facilities in Antequera, Colmenar and Campillos, cover 23 municipalities with an area of 2,619.3 square kilometres and a population of 132,685 inhabitants.
The new station has already attended five incidents since it began operating, two traffic accidents, a switchboard fire, a house fire and a flooded home.
Amongst those who will be attending the official inauguration are the president of the provincial Council, Elías Bendodo, and the provincial delegate of the Andalucian parliament Remedios Martel.
