Two people have been arrested and 1,500 kilos of hashish seized in a police operation near Chipiona in Cádiz province.
The SIVE surveillance system installed earlier this year at the mouth of the rio Guadalquivir detected a boat suspected of carrying a shipment of drugs. It was believed that the drugs shipment was being coordinated by 30 year old David R.R., a man who had eluded capture during an earlier drugs operation in September this year.
Uniformed and plain clothes police began surveillance and once the boat had entered the rio Guadalquivir it was intercepted. The boat was carrying 50 bales of hashish weighing a total of 1,500 kilos.
Two people were arrested during the operation, David R.R., a resident of Sanlucar de Barrameda, and 35 year old S.M.M., a resident of Ceuta. Both have prior records for drug trafficking and, after a court appearance, both are now behind bars.
