Frantic activity on Saturday at the fish market auctions in Andalucia pushed prices up ahead of the Christmas period, some prices almost trebling.
In Isla Cristina, one of the largest and most important fish markets in Andalucia, prawns, crayfish, shrimp, flounder, sea bream were being auctioned off as fast as they were being unloaded from the ships and there was much competition as all sought a good price.
Prices at Christmas tend to traditionally be much higher than the rest of the year.
