The number of people availing themselves of the services offered by the soup kitchen operated by Emaús Obra de Amor in Estepona has been steadily increasing since July, with around 1,900 people now using the service.
Emaús Obra de Amor has witnessed a 16% increase in the number of users since July. People of all age groups, from elderly retirees to young people with children, have found themselves having to take advantage of the service.
Beneficiaries are those deemed by the Social Services to be in need due to their economic or personal situation. In addition there is a supply of food set aside for undocumented passers by who can benefit from the service for up to three consecutive days.
Emaús Obra de Amor plans to operate a home delivery service in the future.
