The only place in Andalucia engaged in the production of turkey eggs is in Guadalteba, Málaga province, and as from next year, production is set to double with the opening of a new centre.
The new Turkey Reproduction Centre will achieve a production of two million eggs, doubling the current capacity. The new facility incorporates the most innovative systems in this sector and is fully automated.
The centre is owned by Agujerera S.A. which in turn is part of Procavi, the leading European producer of turkey meat.
The two million turkey eggs produced will be transferred to the incubation centre in Campillos where the gestation will be completed and the birds sold on for breeding purposes.
The new centre involved an investment of around €3 million plus a grant of €300,000.
