First indications are that a couple found dead at their home in Girona last night died as a result of a domestic dispute, the first one of 2012.
The initial theory is that Oleksandre P. killed his partner, Natalia P., at their home in calle Montseny, Girona, and then committed suicide. The sons of the couple alerted the police after they were unable to contact them either via the land line telephone or mobile.
Neighbours are reported as stating that they never heard the couple, both from the Ukraine, arguing at any time.
There were 60 domestic fatalities in 2011 and 73 the previous year.
