Real Madrid, the defending champions, fought back from two goals down to beat Málaga 3-2 in the first leg of their Copa del Rey match.
Sergio Sánchez and Demichelis put the Blue and Whites two up at the break, both heading in from corner kicks, but it was not to be. With twenty minutes remaining, Khedira and Higuaín both found the net to level the scores and eight minutes later Benzema scored the winner after some good work by Higuaín.
